Description
Nyonya Tempra is a dish characterized by its savory, spicy, sweet, tangy dark sauce. Tempra means ‘braised’ in the Peranakan language. This dish is cooked with a lot of sweet onions giving it a delicious aroma. It is a household staple dish in many Peranakan homes.
In this photo, is Terung Tempra (Eggplants Tempra). I use thick slices of aubergine and pan roasted them before soaking in this delicious sauce specialty of my Peranakan culture.
Please order white steamed rice separately.
